The First Frost
Seeing or hearing a child's excitement is a great thing. Seeing or hearing their disappointment is a sad thing. Sometimes there is a combination of both creating an opportunity for display of human compassion and kindness.

Country Folk
"Country Folk" is a collection of three short stories based on true events which occurred in the early 1900's. The first, 'Sadie', is the story of a ten year old girl who was painfully acquainted with the realities of an abusive home and the heartbreak of rejection. It is followed with an extended version of 'The First Frost' a story of how simple things in life are sometimes the most important. The book concludes with Tinker, Tut and Doo Dobber, a dangerous adventure, or perhaps, misadventure of three young boys and their battle against a raging stream.

"The weathered wood and rusty tin roof made it difficult to see from the road in the dim light of evening..."
